A company has already developed a prototype for a mobile casual game. The game demonstrated success, prompting the decision to proceed with its further development. However, to keep up the pace of development, a significant amount of new art was required to continually improve the game.
To create 2D and 3D art for a game that aligns with the art director’s requirements and matches the established game style.
We started with a thorough analysis of the company’s vision for art creation flow. Through the consulting phase, it became evident that the optimal solution for the project would be an extension of the client’s existing team on our side. To address the ongoing art creation, establishing a dedicated team was essential. The client sought a customized team exclusively dedicated to their project, avoiding the challenges of shifting between different projects. Additionally, it was important to maintain full control over the workflow. In essence, they required a full-fledged team of artists seamlessly integrated into their company structure.
Creating the art for the game required two 2D artists and two 3D artists. We formed a team of experienced artists led by the Art Lead, who took over the project.
At this step, 2D artists look for examples and draw rough sketches of the things needed, like game levels, objects, or LiveOps elements. Once a sketch is complete, our Art Lead reviews it, makes necessary fixes, and gives approval before passing it on to the 3D artists.
At this point, 3D artists start modelling objects or scenes based on the sketches. They also prepare the scene for rendering, which involves:
Next, 2D artists continue the process by enhancing 3D renders. They add final touches like
At this stage, the Art Lead works closely with the client to review the artwork. If any adjustments are necessary, they request corrections. Once the artwork is approved, we prepare the files for integration into the game.
Having received all the necessary information, the Art Lead formulated a project estimate and finalized the initial workload. Month by month, the team diligently crafted captivating and visually appealing art for new game levels, special occasions, and holidays.
The scope of work included the creation of art for environments, interfaces, and 3D models of characters, all in alignment with the established game style. Since 2021 and continuing to the present, the team has been actively contributing to the game product, which has already demonstrated outstanding results on the market.
